The cherry not The icing

Hello TBL squad,

The road from church had this T-junction, the route  home was on the left while Mr Biggs was on the right. After service when we got to the junction, my dad always asked left or right, even when he knew the answer already. we always shouted right with so much joy.

 When we chose our cake for Sunday brunch, I picked based on how attractive the icing looked not caring the flavor at that moment or if it had a cherry on top or not.

The icing is what makes a cake really attractive. if various vanilla cakes are kept on a stand, with vanilla being your best flavor, you'd pick based on how pretty the icing looks.

 The cherry on the cake is that extra finishing, the final toppings, like the twinkles, or the maltesars on top or the Oreo's. Take note, that without the cherry, the cake is still very much a cake. 
  In my excitement, I probably wouldn’t have  noticed a cherry-less cake but of course it won’t hurt to have the cherry.

Now imagine a cake without any icing, just the cake from the oven then a cherry on top. It wont be the first choice of anyone.

Stick with me, we are going somewhere….

Relating this to our lives as boss ladies, We should see marriage as the cherry not the icing. as the final toppings not the main beautification or the whole essence of the cake..

What exactly is the icing

The icing makes the cake more attractive, that is how we should make our life. Your icing is how you make your life different and special. we should concentrate on building our icing rather than putting all our effort on the particular type of cherry. A cherry needs to be on an icing to be beautiful.

We spend our time thinking about the right man or woman for us but forget to become the right person ourselves.

How to make your icing beautiful;

1.         Education should never be taken for granted;  "education is the passport for the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today, Malcolm x." In this age, so many people do not see the value for education again. education is more than going to school for mathematics and English, it's more about developing yourself and getting your degree. Due to the mystery of the future, i advice a completion of degree at all cost, put in your best and bag that certificate.
2.  Skill empowerment;  Be multi-talented. Besides your education, its actually smart to build your skill set. look for something you like doing and do it. 2018 summer was the summer that i opened myself up to all kinds of skills; wig making, baking and generally everything i love doing."every skill you acquire doubles your odds of success, Scott Adams."
3.  Financial consciousness; As boss ladies, we have to be financially conscious, in building ourselves. There is this book a friend of mine gave me "The smart money woman" (super engaging and relate-able, if interested, let me know.. i will mail it to you). Part of building an icing, is providing for yourself without compromising your standards.
4. Find your niche and make the best out of it.  I love making hair, I love cooking, I love reading and writing. At first, I was angry that i couldn't go out and learn this things because I wanted the interactions but i found YouTube and decided to use my dad's data to fund my tutorial videos. I downloaded this videos and acquired my skills from  the comfort of my bed. when you build your interest, never stop making the best out of it. This millennial age has showed us that, you can easily make money off your passion; imagine your parents realizing  that you can make money from  pressing phone: blogging, social-media influencing, You-tubing, freelance writing, dancing. you just have to look within and decide what you love do. You can also love schooling; put your all in your books and academics, make yourself the best in that field. "If everybody is doing it one way, there's a good chance you can find your niche by going exactly in the opposite direction. Boss Ladies, marriage should be the cherry not the icing. It should not be the only goal. The focus should be on the icing, which is you. Making it as attractive as possible, loving yourself every step of the way. Your life should be very beautiful and tasty even without the cherry.

As the bakers of our life, it's not smart for us to concentrate on the type of cherry we are getting from the market but rather on the icing. The real eye catching thing, the ‘what’ that distinguishes us from the next cake. What better time to start, than now
